New releases for Friday, 14th August

Coming Friday, 14th August

Pop rock, reggae, and a posthumous Andy Gill tribute EP, plus a Record Store Day reminder!

All We Are - Providence

Providence, released on Double Six, is All We Are’s most euphoric and propulsive work to date, underpinned with a warmth that runs through everything the Liverpool-based trio do. With Providence, All We Are have created an album celebrating the universal virtues of love, loss, sex, friendship and dance.

Gang of Four - Anti Hero / This Heaven Gives Me Migraine

After the death of long-time Gang of Four leader and lead guitarist, Andy Gill, in February, the band released the posthumous EP This Heaven Gives Me Migraine. This second tribute EP, Anti Hero, arrives to further celebrate Gill’s memory. Each EP is one side of the record.

Sea Girls - Open Up Your Head

After taking 2019 by the scruff of the neck and making it their own, as well as a blistering trajectory in 2020, Sea Girls have come out all guns blazing with their emotionally charged, deeply personal, hook laden debut album Open Up Your Head on Polydor.

Goldfrapp - Supernature

Supernature lashes together lascivious electro, cascading synths and the exhumed spirits of artists like Gary Numan and Giorgio Moroder. Occasionally vampish and consistently visceral, this is a classy excursion into Goldfrappian gothic dance-pop.

Britney Spears - Oops I Did It Again

20th Anniversary Edition on limited picture disc. It features all 12 original hits, including Oops!...I Did It Again, Stronger, and Lucky.

Wayne Wade - Poor and Humble / Babylonian

First time repress Greensleeves 12” classic from 1981 - two more roots anthems back to back! Both sides mixed by Scientist at King Tubby’s in a 12” murder style. Original Roots Radics drum and bass from reggae’s golden age. Produced by Linval Thompson.

Keith Hudson - Nuh Skin Up

First time repress Greensleeves 12” classic from 1979 - two roots anthems back to back! Deep and heavy extended workouts from ‘The Dark Prince of Reggae’. Both sides made big impressions on the sound system scene on raw dub-plate, continued heavy Jah Shaka rotation means they remain in-demand to this day. Produced by Keith Hudson.

Biffy Clyro - A Celebration of Endings

Biffy Clyro releases new album A Celebration of Endings. It follows the band’s previous two studio albums –Ellipsis (2016) and Opposites (2013) – both of which went straight to number 1.

Whitney - Candid

Following their acclaimed sophomore 2019 album Forever Turned Around, Whitney have decided to return with a loving tribute to songs that have been formative and lasting to the entire band. Candid is a 10-song collection boasting covers of artists like Kelela, David Byrne, John Denver, SWV, and others.

James Dean Bradfield - Even In Exile

Second solo album by James Dean Bradfield from the Manic Street Preachers. An ultra-vivid eulogy to a brilliant life cut short, Even in Exile is a beautiful collection of songs that loosely trace to story of the life and death of Chilean poet-singer-activist Victor Jara.
